Fight for climate change
TURNING OVER A NEW TEA LEAF
TAZO was founded as a brand that challenges the status quo to better society. The way we see it, we have a moral responsibility that extends beyond our products. We have to be better to do better.
We’re experts at brewing tea.
Now we’re learning to be champions for the planet and its people.
To start, we recognize that the climate crisis is one of the biggest challenges facing our world today. Not only does it threaten the health of our planet, it’s disproportionately harmed communities of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) for decades. It’s an environmental issue and a human rights issue all rolled up into one.
It’s time to take a stand. That’s why TAZO is joining the fight for climate justice.
First, we’re getting educated. We’ve partnered with WE ACT for Environmental Justice and Intersectional Environmentalist to learn about the ways climate change and racism are connected; their leadership will shape the actions we take to fight for climate justice.
At the same time, we also need to understand the full environmental impact of our teas. So, we’re working with sustainability consulting firm, Pure Strategies, to run an environmental and social audit of our business. From evaluating workers’ rights in the regions from which we source our 50+ globally grown ingredients, to understanding the carbon footprint of our products, and more, we’re figuring out what needs improving, and hashing out solid plans to do just that.
Our work ahead won’t be easy. Luckily, getting out of comfort zones is what we do best. (That and brewing tea.) Be sure to follow our journey and join the conversation about climate justice on Instagram and Twitter .
Remember, we only have one Earth; its future—and ours—depends on the choices we make today.

LET’S START WITH CLIMATE JUSTICE
For far too long, climate change has disproportionately harmed BIPOC communities across the country. As we work together to fight for climate justice, we’re focusing on solutions led by members of these communities.
In June, we pledged $250,000 to fund anti-racism work. We’ve invested those funds into two amazing organizations led by Black women fighting for climate justice: WE ACT for Environmental Justice and Intersectional Environmentalist. We recently supported a new paid internship program with Intersectional Environmentalist aimed at providing valuable experience, mentorship, and training to BIPOC youth passionate about developing inclusive climate solutions.
We’re extremely proud of these partnerships, and we can’t wait to share more about our upcoming initiatives. Stay tuned.
As we make our way towards becoming a more sustainable tea brand, we’re following the lead of activists and innovators on the frontlines of the fight for climate justice.
