TURNING OVER A NEW TEA LEAF

TAZO was founded as a brand that challenges the status quo to better society. The truth is we have a moral responsibility beyond just our products. Which is why, as a brand with a global reach, we have to be better to do better.

We’re experts at brewing tea. Now we’re becoming champions for the planet and its people.

The climate crisis is one of the biggest challenges facing our world today. Not only does it threaten the health of our planet, it’s disproportionately harmed BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities for decades. It’s an environmental issue and a human rights issue all rolled up into one.

It’s time to take a stand. That’s why TAZO joined the fight for climate justice.

So, first, we got educated. Partnering with WE ACT for Environmental Justice and Intersectional Environmentalist , we learned about the ways climate change and racism are interconnected; their leadership will shape the actions we take to fight for climate justice.

At the same time, we also needed to understand the full environmental impact of our teas. So, we worked with sustainability consulting firm, Pure Strategies, to run a full environmental and social audit of our business. From evaluating workers’ rights in the regions from which we source our 50+ globally grown ingredients, to understanding the carbon footprint of our products, and more, we’ve been working hard to improve our business practices from the inside out.

Inspired by what we learned, we partnered with American Forests to launch the TAZO Tree Corps . This locally hired, paid workforce helps reforest BIPOC communities across the U.S. so everyone can enjoy all the benefits that trees provide—like better air and water quality, and improved mental health.

CLIMATE JUSTICE WAS JUST THE BEGINNING

The way we see it, our responsibility goes well beyond our teas. Whether that’s fighting for climate justice through the TAZO Tree Corps, or working to transition into a fully regenerative brand, we’re going all in on creating a better future for the planet and its people.

For starters, we’re reformulating our tea blends to use regenerative agricultural practices that help conserve nature and protect biodiversity. Meaning, they’ll actually help improve soil health and protect waterways. We’re also reevaluating and setting goals to reduce our carbon emissions.
