SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITIES

We invest directly in solutions led by those in communities disproportionately impacted by the climate crisis. And we’re committed to empowering farmers and workers within our supply chain, along with the women and girls in tea- and herb-producing regions.

REPLENISHING
OUR PLANET

We’re giving back to the planet by conserving the earth’s natural resources, encouraging biodiversity, improving soil health, protecting natural waterways and forests, and so much more.

TRANSFORMING
OUR BUSINESS

We’ve taken a closer look at every part of our business to improve internal processes, from where we source ingredients to how we package our products, so we can create teas you’ll feel great about sipping.

SUSTAINABLE IS GOOD.

REGENERATIVE IS WAY, WAY BETTER.

Since sustainability was designed to help maintain the earth, there’s only so much it can do in restoring ecosystems damaged by irresponsible business practices.

At TAZO, going regenerative means we can continue where sustainability can’t. That includes recognizing all the ways that climate and soil are interconnected with the people and ecosystems that rely on them. This way, we can help create a world in which our environment and communities can thrive together.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • For starters, traditional farming practices tend to rely heavily on things like chemicals (e.g. pesticides, synthetic fertilizers), tilling, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) to grow and maintain crops. The issue? It leads to degraded soil health thanks to chemical pollution and decarbonization, among a host of other causes.

On the other hand, regenerative organic agriculture focuses on building healthy soil. To do that, it relies on farming systems that actually improve the land in which crops are grown. For instance, instead of using harmful chemicals or GMOs, it uses more eco-friendly methods, including little-to-no tillage, crop rotations, cover crops, and grazing management. All this not only helps keep carbon in the ground (which combats the effects of climate change), but also leads to healthier soil that produces high quality, nutrient-dense food.

  • Yes, for sure. We follow strict USDA organic national program requirements for all our teas, like not using prohibited substances or GMOs.

  • Yes! Our new regenerative blends are all made with Fair Trade Certified ingredients, while Awake® English Breakfast, Chai, and Darjeeling are 100% Fair Trade USA Certified.

  • Fair Trade helps ensure responsible practices and safe, healthy working conditions on the farms where our products are grown. And to be Fair Trade certified, producers have to meet rigorous standards in areas including child labor, maternity leave, water conservation, and the elimination of pesticides.

  • Excellent question. When you buy Fair Trade Certified™ TAZO products, we pay a premium to support the farmers who grow the ingredients in our teas. That money goes directly into Community Development Funds owned and managed by farmers and their communities. From there, those farmers decide on how to spend those funds to address important local needs on everything from health care services to clean water access.

  • Yep! All TAZO Regenerative teas are Non GMO Project Verified—pretty proud of it, too.

Could you give us some examples of regenerative practices used by your farms?

Definitely. Specific agriculture practices vary by ingredient and farm, but some ways our suppliers and tea farms are going regenerative include: protecting natural waterways and forests, providing wildlife and pollinator habitat on farms, using cover crops and vegetative cover, and monitoring soil health with testing.

  • You can pick up our regenerative blends online (like right here at tazo.com), and in-store at retailers including Target, Walmart, and grocery stores nationwide.
